Is the Yakcat fast?
It was designed with performance and stability in mind. The multi-hull design is state of the art and extremely fast.
Is the Yakcat heavy?
No, with advancements in composite technology, the resin to glass ratio will be maximized to its closest tolerances.
Is there adequate storage?
There is plenty of storage: 5 storage areas in all. The center pod storage is for your electronics, cameras, keys and maybe your lunch. The 4 cockpit storage areas are ideal for just about everything else.
Does the Yakcat need special racks for transporting?
No, Yakcat fits most standard rack systems.
Is it good for fishing?
Yes!, the Yakcat was designed with the angler in mind. Plenty of storage, plenty of room for pole mounts (1 - 6 your choice), you can actually stand in our boat for casting. Something you cannot do in most kayaks.
Does the Yakcat come with a motor?
Yes, there is a motor in the works. It will be electric and 'green' environmentally speaking.
What colors does the Yakcat come in?
You give us a color and we will match it. We also have 6 standard color options.
Can you stand in a Yakcat?
Yes! Stretch your legs, cast your fishing pole, look through binoculars or take a photograph... your choice. The yakcat is very stable.
Will the Yakcat get water in the knee wells?
Yes, some water will get in the knee wells, less water than you would get in a canoe. For fast water and surf we are developing a skirt, that will be available early 2008.
What does the Yakcat weigh?
Approximately 55 lbs. If a higher grade kevlar or carbon fiber is used it will weigh 20% less.
Is the center of gravity to high?
Actually the opposite. Even though your seat is above the water line your lower legs are below the water line. This allows your center of gravity to be low as your cutting the water with your paddle.
What hardware comes on the Yakcat?
Hardware is applied per the customer's requirements.
